I’ve all but given up on getting my laptop back any time soon, so I am taking homebrew supply inventory and adding it to my copy of BeerSmith on this computer. I have some Boadicea hops that I got from Northern Brewer.com a few months back, and I’m trying to find any info about them – flavor, etc – for entering them into BeerSmith, but mum’s the word on these babies. I found a few links about “classic Boadicea character” from UK brewers, but nothing really substantive.
I am reaching out to you, my loyal readership, or even those of you who never came here before. Any information about Boadicea hops? Or is this one ounce sealed bag of hops doomed to a long life of slow decay in my freezer?
I can tell you that they have 7.3% alpha acids, so I guess they’d make a fine bittering addition. It would just be nice to know a bit more about them.
Edit: Ditto this question for Newport hops. All I can find is that Rogue used them, but Maier likes Centennial better.

A very late response to your question — we’ve just had a comment from a brewer at Adnams who told us that the spicy, Belgian-wit character we’d noted in a pint of their East Green Carbon Neutral beer was from Boadicea hops. So, worth using in something!

Thanks for the info! Never too late! It’s getting to be a bit out of season, but maybe I can use that with the packet of dry wheat beer yeast to make a witty beer.
